Southern Living Idea House at Fernadina Beach Florida

I was so fortunate this past weekend to head up to Fernadina Beach to tour the Southern Living Idea House 2019. The very best thing about touring the house is the wonderful guide we were given that provides a detailed guide to every single room.  My husband and I spotted some things we really might want to 'borrow' from this house and the guide tells us all of the paint colors, flooring, fabric, etc.

The House:

The home has been built at the beautiful Crane Island in Fernadina Beach, Florida.  This is a gorgeous part of Northeast Florida which is classic lowcountry with marshlands and the inter coastal surrounding the island.

The approach to the home is lovely off a small cul de sac.
Since new garage doors are coming to my house, I fell in love with these Clopay garage doors, both the style and the color!

The wing of the house seen here is the master bedroom.

I had to wait a few minutes to snap this while no one was entering.  It was a rainy day but my timing was good between the car and the house.

The front door is elegant and lovely and similar to the color of my own front door.  This one is Sherwin Williams SW9140 Blustery Sky.

The Master Bedroom and Bathroom:

The master bathroom has two vanities with separate sinks. I noticed they were using mixed metals.  Note the silver faucets and the gold pulls.

Beneath the window, between the twin vanities is the Chevoit-Balmoral Cast Iron Bath in custom color, Sherwin Williams SW2816 Rookwood Dark Green.

Shower tiles are 24″ x 48″ and hardware is from Brizo in polished nickel.

The master bedroom was bright and comfortable but held only a queen size bed which would not be my choice.

Walls and ceiling in the master bedroom were white shiplap with two sections on opposite walls of these un-constructed sections to add character to the space.

The sitting area in the master bedroom is comfy and welcoming, but I would have opted for a desk looking out at that amazing view!

Living Room:

It was difficult to get many photos of the living room as this is where most of the visitors where hanging out and talking about the house.  I had a lovely conversation with John A. Hillman, the builder.

I thought this was a creative way to display this collection of water bird pictures.  You might see this in my house someday!

The windows across the back of the living room open and stack back to make an easy flow from indoor to outdoor living.

The walls in the home are clad in a number of different styles, some plank like this and some shiplap.

A pair of bookshelves flank the opening from the living room to the kitchen.

Indoor Dining:

Okay, this was supposed to show you the indoor dining which is a lovely round table and six upholstered chairs.  I, on the other hand was more interested in the woodwork and the matchstick blinds and neglected to photograph the table.  Sorry.

But, the painted floor in the dining area was so unique, I didn't let that go unnoticed and got this nice photo.

Kitchen:

When closed, the pantry doors just look like additional cabinet fronts.

This is a peek inside the roomy pantry.

The kitchen was a little small for me, but had just the sink and faucet I would select for my new kitchen. The backsplash behind the Duel Fuel Pro Grand Range is actually wallpaper by Gracie Studio – SY300 New World.  Many of us visiting the home were concerned with the durability of it.  It would certainly need to have some heat-resistant cover over it, but it sure is beautiful!  I sure fell for that gorgeous custom plastered hood!

Another piece of that stunning wallpaper is above the bar counter that is located between the freezer and the refrigerator.   There is so much more I want to share with you, so this is going to have to be a series of posts.  Look for more including the beautiful outdoor spaces later this week!
